Snowsurface is a surface translation, a translation from text to image. Ben Lerner’s poem on snow has been translated/adapted by Alexander Kluge into a series of fantastical stories, but is there any possibility for it to become something personal, while maintaining its historicity? I’m seeing a translation between mediums as a bringing-together of the private and the publicate; to a translator is to project and preserve oneself in the world of histories and presents.
